Hello, world
This is the first post on the writui blog. Like every post here, it was written in writui itself, in a terminal, in plain markdown, and then exported straight into the site.
writui is a writing app for the terminal. Your writing lives in one file, encrypted with your password. The editor is a single quiet column of text, and markdown is formatted as you type: bold in bold, italics in italics, code in green.
What it does so far:
- Posts with a title, saved as you type, with undo and redo
- Named versions of a post, and a history to bring old ones back
- Selecting, copying and pasting, with the mouse or the keyboard
- A menu of everything you can do, on Ctrl+K
- Copy or export a post as markdown, which is how this one got here
It’s early, and it’s being built in the open, a small piece at a time. The changelog lists every release. To try it on macOS or Linux:
curl -fsSL https://writui.com/install.sh | bash
More soon.
